Fussy picky eaters are not restricted to autistic spectrum children, countless others suffer from food allergies and sensitivities that makes eating a nightmare time for child and parents. The reasons could be sensory causing an upset with taste, feel, smell of food. The colour of some foods may well cause refusal, particularly green foods. Puking and projectile vomiting are common. There are specific reasons for picky eating and understanding those reasons can help us find answers - no child vomits on purpose and frequently the problem arises in the gut from the type of foods the child is being fed. An elimination diet is required for all autistic children as certain foods adversely affect brain growth and cause inflammation in the gut. When these issues are dealt with picky eaters become good eaters.
